Two workmates from Navan are said to be devastated by a decision by a local bookmaker to not pay out in full a bet they laid on the Euromillions draw. One of the men, Lesley Forde placed three bets, two for himself and one for a friend, Oliver Gough on the EUromillions numbers on Friday 6th February.
All three bets turned out to be winners and should have paid out around €82,000 but Tully’s bookmakers where they placed the bet have a maximum payout rule of €50,000 to a single customer and this means that Lesley and Oliver won’t be getting the full payout.
Mr Forde said he was only collecting the winnings for his friend and is disappointed given that had his friend collected his own winnings they would have got the full amount but as the rule stands only €50,000 could be paid out on the bet.
The gentlemen have consulted legal advice but have been tol there is little they can do as the rule was in place before the bets were placed. The gentlemen both feel that in this case maybe the bookmaker shouldn’t have accepted all three bets knowing what the payout could be.
The gentlemen are hoping that Tully’s bookmaker will pay out the full amount as a goodwill gesture but as a spokesperson from Tully’s has said they believe the matter is closed it’s very unlikely there will be any change to the outcome.
